Brazil ensures qualification, Argentina in distress
Brazil became the first South American nation to make it to the World Cup finals as they defeated old enemies Argentina 3-1 in the South American - League Group in Rosario. It confirmed Brazil's qualification but leaves Argentina in fourth just two points ahead of the play-off places. It was Argentina's first World Cup qualifying home defeat since September 5 1993, when they lost 5-0 to Colombia in Buenos Aires. My Day, on TV every year at this time...the Masters Golf Tournament
The Golden BearI just spent all morning watching Jack Nicklaus play his last competitive golf tournament in St. Andrews on television. Very emotional day for him -- and for me. Jack Nicklaus, without question the greatest golfer ever, was a huge part of my television weekends (and my dad's too) for several decades. I even copied some of his pre-shot mannerisms in my own golf play, as millions did everywhere. I t was always great fun to wake up on a summer Sunday morning wondering if Jack could make his typical victory charge later that afternoon. Now it's over. Kinda reminds me of the inexorable march of time. |
